| Stipend: | For graduate students: The stipend is $3,000 for a 10-week, 40-hour-per-week term. |
| Requirements: | Prospective interns are those who have demonstrated superior academic ability and who have coursework, professional or personal experience, and career interests related to Carter Center programs. Interns are required to commit a minimum of 20 hours per week, although many choose to work up to 40 hours a week. |
| Description: | Students have the opportunity to intern in the following areas: Americas Program (AP), Democracy Program (DP), Conflict Resolution Program (CRP), Human Rights Program (HR), China Program (CP), Education Program (EDU), Global 2000 (G2000), Development (DEV), Art Services (ART), Finance (FIN), Research (RES), Events, Public Information (PI), or the Mental Health Program (MH). Internships are offered during three sessions per year to undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates (graduated in the past 24 months).
The internship program focuses on providing interns with a substantive work experience and strictly enforces the policy of ensuring that less than 30 percent of their internship role is focused on administrative tasks. As such, interns are an integral part of the regular programmatic and operational activity of the institution: organizing conferences, preparing briefing materials for meetings, drafting memoranda and reports, attending meetings, and experiencing 'hands on' Center activities in the field, such as international election monitoring. The goal of the internship program is to advance a committed, informed, and skilled workforce serving peace, health, and development needs around the world. |
