Internships are located at headquarters in South San Francisco, and facilities in Vacaville and Oceanside, California.
Sample internship projects: Science: Study the role of cell types, molecules and pathways in immune mediated diseases as well as normal immune responses utilizing in vitro and in vivo models.
Medicine: Develop relational databases for gene expression, genotypic, experimental and clinical data; engage research bioinformatics projects and biostatistics methodologies to support biomarker discovery and relate clinical trial efficacy to patient genetic information.
Engineering: Conduct full-scale experiments to support licensure of new manufacturing facilities and support process improvements in one of the world's largest biotechnology manufacturing plants for the large-scale production of pharmaceutical proteins from mammalian cells.
Computer Science: Design and maintain ongoing budgeting, long-range planning and project-level variance reporting processes to meet key financial targets and measure progress toward those targets.
Business: Assess, create and forecast new market opportunities for Genentech research projects and business development. Evaluate market landscape to predict trends and provide recommendations on program development and product differentiation strategies.
